Nothing rolls smoother! Like all RX Series Putters, the RX5 features a higher center of gravity, lower loft, and a deeper face that impacts the ball at the equator, eliminating backspin and creating a lower, more consistent launch angle and superior forward roll, helping the ball stay on the intended line.

More than ever before, forgiveness is the name of the game when it comes to putter design.  Though small-headed, blade-style putters still have their place, larger, more forgiving putters are quickly gaining popularity.

Perhaps no other putter manufacturer has embraced putters with high MOI than Cure.  Through industry-leading research and testing, Cure has constructed the most forgiving putter on the market with the RX5.  For golfers of all abilities, the Cure RX5 putter provides the utmost in forgiveness and stability.  The result?  More consistent contact and more holed putts. Let’s have a closer look.

Key Features

  • Unmatched MOI provides golfers excellent stability and forgiveness.
  • More than 200 grams of adjustable weights allow golfers to match weight to their liking and the speed of the greens.
  • Interchangeable shafts and adjustable lie angle make the fitting process fast and easy.

Who Should Buy the Cure RX5 Putter?

I mean it when I say that the Cure RX5 putter can benefit golfers of all abilities.  However, it might be especially attractive to golfers that like to tinker, don’t mind looking at a large putter head, or have trouble making consistent solid contact.  On the other hand, if you prefer a more traditional looking putter with a smaller head, the RX5 might be a little bit much to look at.  But, you never know until you try.

Cure RX5 Putter Detailed Review

Design and Technology

There’s no shortage of leading-edge design and technology in the Cure RX5 putter.

To start, the head is six inches wide.  That’s right, it’s literally the biggest putter on the market.  This increases MOI which translates to maximum forgiveness under the rules of golf.

The heads are made of aircraft-grade aluminum which has allowed the design team to efficiently distribute head weight where it matters most.  Because this material is so much lighter than steel, it gives the face a softer, more responsive feel that helps with speed control.

Interchangeable stainless steel weights sit in both the toe and the heel.  This increases MOI at impact and provides stability.  What’s even better is the weight adjustment range is more than 200 grams.  In short, there’s a perfect weight for every golfer and every green speed.

The RX5 putter also allows golfers to adjust the lie angle all the way from eight degrees flat to eight degrees upright.  For that reason, the RX5 is easy to fit to any golfer.

The Cure RX5 putter head measures six inches in diameter.  Head material is a combination of aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel.  Its loft is 1.5 degrees.  Adjustable weights allow head weight to range from 361 grams to 615 grams.  The lie angle can be adjusted from 62 degrees to 80 degrees.  The RX5 is available in both right and left-handed and lengths are 33, 34, and 35 inches respectively.

Our Experience

I’ve always been a streaky putter.  When I’m hot, the hole looks as big as the ocean.  When I’m off however, it looks like the size of the thimble.  Over the years, I’ve learned that the main reason for my inconsistent putting has more to do with making solid contact than anything.

That’s why I couldn’t wait to get the RX5 in my hands.

Looking down at the head for the first time was a bit of a shock to my system.  Set behind the golf ball, the head looked like a Volkswagen on a stick.  However, after I hit a few putts, I noticed a huge difference in stability compared to my normal putter.

My stroke felt much more stable on short putts and my contact improved dramatically on lag putts.

I tested a few different weights and eventually found the right set up for my stroke and the green speed.

It’s easy to see how any golfer could benefit from the forgiveness and easy adjustability of this putter.

Cure RX5 Putter

Nothing rolls smoother! Like all RX Series Putters, the RX5 features a higher center of gravity, lower loft, and a deeper face that impacts the ball at the equator, eliminating backspin and creating a lower, more consistent launch angle and superior forward roll, helping the ball stay on the intended line.

  • Extremely high MOI provides golfers maximum stability and forgiveness.
  • Weight adjustability makes customization easy.
  • Adjustable lie angle makes fitting for any golfer simple.
  • Abnormally large head design may take some getting used to.
  • Price point is higher than other, similar putters.
  • Single head shape may not fit the needs of every player.

If you’re like me, you’re always willing to try something new to improve your golf game.  The RX5 most definitely falls into that category of outside the box.  But, the best part is the goofy design and technology are all backed by science.

There’s no question that this putter can help any golfer achieve a more consistent putting stroke.  What’s even better is that you aren’t stuck with a single putter when you put the RX5 in your bag.  The ability to adjust both head weight and lie angle on the fly is unlike anything else around.

We all know that making more putts is the fastest way to shoot lower scores.  That’s why I recommend, without a doubt, giving the RX5 a try.

How Does the Cure RX5 Putter Compare?

TaylorMade Spider X Putters

The TaylorMade Spider X line of putters have become some of the most popular on the PGA Tour.  Like the Cure RX5, the entire line is designed to increase MOI.

When I tried both putters side-by-side, there was no doubt that they were both forgiving.  However, the RX5 still produced solid contact even when I intentionally hit putts out of the toe and heel.

The feel off the face was much softer with the Cure RX5 than the Spider X.  I prefer the softer feel as it seems more responsive.  However, if you’re a player that likes a firmer feel and sound, the Spider X more than delivers.

Odyssey Triple Track Putters

When Odyssey designed their Triple Track line of putters, they wanted to accomplish two things.  First, give golfers a putter with high MOI to help increase forgiveness and stability.  Second, they wanted to make alignment as easy as possible.

Compared to the RX5 putter, there’s no question that both putters have high MOI.  With that being said, there was a night and day difference as the RX5 was much more forgiving.

One thing I really liked about the Triple Track was the three contrasting site lines that made starting the ball on my intended line a piece of cake.  While the RX5 does have a site line, it’s nothing like that of the Triple Track.

Scotty Cameron Phantom X Putters

Ever since I can remember, Scotty Cameron has produced some of the sexiest putters in the business.  That’s certainly true with the Phantom X line of mallet putters designed to enhance stability and forgiveness.

What I love most about this line of putters is the clean look and sharp edges.  When you set one of these flat sticks behind the ball, you just feel confident.

Compared to the RX5, I like the look of the Phantom X a little more.  However, the higher MOI and adjustability options of the RX5 are hard to argue with.

Then there’s price.  While the RX5 putter isn’t cheap, it’s nothing compared to the nearly $400 you can spend on a Phantom X.

Review :

The RX-5 has been great for me during roughly 6 months of use. I have it set very upright (80 degrees) because I like to get my eyes over the ball. I also have it set to maximum weight for what comes with the putter, to maximize the MOI. I’d like to go even heavier, using the “Extended RX Weight Kit” — BUT that accessory has been consistently OUT OF STOCK throughout the 6 months I’ve owned this putter. That is very frustrating, and frankly rather worrisome. Since weight adjustment and maximum MOI are key selling points emphasized on Cure’s… Read more »
